The story of the Logo
Picton’s famous waterfront elm tree

Picton’s spreading elm tree signals the start of the ‘season’ for the town’s businesses. The saying goes: when the elm comes into leaf, Picton’s economy bursts into life.
Of course, there’s a steady flow of visitors at other times, enjoying the calm of late autumn, winter walks, some great shopping and hospitality. When the leaves fall, the stark silhouette of the spreading elm frames the view of the harbour, a favourite photo opportunity.
The myriad branches of this 95-year-old tree also represents the network of connections between local businesses - supporting each other, coming together in Picton Business Group to create a strong presence in our amazing little town.
