Why you should be a member of the Picton Business Group

Picton Business Group (PBG) is the voice of Business in Picton. Founded in 1994, PBG is actively involved in:

  • Providing a forum for networking and collaboration amongst members. Representing all business - retail, hospitality, tourism, services, trades, suppliers, in Picton, Waikawa and environs. We will also include charitable organisations involved in the business activity of Picton.
  • Encouraging the establishment and operation of businesses and business projects in Picton.
  • Advising the Marlborough District Council and corporations on assets, services and infrastructure.
  • Contributing to physical improvements which enhance Picton’s image e.g. signs, banners, and promotion.
  • Promoting and supporting marketing of Picton to visitors, including special events and promotions.
  • Supporting Business Trust Marlborough and the Business Mentor Programme.
  • Keeping PBG members informed and up to date with relevant projects & activities within our region such as the Ferry Terminal re-development, cruise ship information, Marlborough business events, marketing opportunities etc.
  • Advocating/lobbying on Long Term Plan (infrastructure etc) and Destination Management Plan.

Annual Subscription Fee

Being a Member of Picton Business Group costs only $145 plus GST for a full year. Your annual membership starts from the date you are invoiced, following receipt of a complete and accurate Application Form.

Your membership entitles you to participate in, and contribute to, all Member activities and communications.

1. Picton Marketing and Promotion

Increased promotion through social media pages, shared to other Picton & Marlborough pages eg Picton My Place and Visit Picton

Mainstream Media promotion of activities and events, and key issues

Promotion through Picton Happenings newsletter put out by council

Picton and Waikawa map which will move to digital distribution this year, possible QR code

2. Business Representation

PBG represents local businesses and participates in various Picton community groups covering marketing, infrastructure and matters of strategic importance to Picton and Marlborough.

PBG takes an active interest in infrastructure projects ensuring a positive outcome for its members.

PBG interacts with Marlborough District Council and Marlborough Roads on infrastructure issues, maintenance and cleaning of the Picton CBD.

PBG makes submissions to the MDC’s Annual Plan and Long Term Plan on behalf of Picton businesses.

PBG is active in the 20 year strategy for the urban growth of Northern Marlborough.

Involvement in groups such as Picton Regional Forum, Marlborough Business networks

3. Member Functions and Networking

The Picton Business Group holds regular members’ meetings. These meetings are an opportunity to network with other local business owners and learn about interesting and relevant topics from an informative group of excellent speakers, and speakers updating issues such as port development
